Incredible
I just watched ABC's Good Morning America with John Kerry concerning the contradictory statements he has made over the years concerning his throwing his military metals over a fence towards the Capitol Building during a war protest. Personally I do not, at this time, have any problem with this silly bit of anti-war theatricalism. Whether he threw metals, ribbons, someone else's ribbons or oatmeal over the fence 35 years ago is not really a big issue to me. What he said and how he handled the issue since, particularly recently, is an issue. It is obvious that he threw some metals over the fence and that he explained what he did several different times in several different ways. That is typical John Kerry. He just adapts to whatever audience he is standing in front of.
What is absolutely shocking is his reponse on GMA. He went ballastic and was almost out of control. He looked like a red face, almost yelling, WWF contestant. He loudly accused the Repbublicans of a conspiracy and 3 times brought up President Bush's service to the Texas Air National Guard even though this had nothing to do with what he was being asked. It was apparent he was just taking the opportunity to take a cheap political shot and catering to his tinfoil hat constituency. All he had to do was calmly explain in a presidential demeanor what had happened and why he has changed his story over the years. The story would die right there if he did. Now I bet his overwrought response will be the story. The man clearly has a major political problem, not because of the metal throwing episode, but because of his reactions to the questions. It is very obvious that he never answered the questions and was dodging and spinning. Why would anyone vote for this man?

this quilt lovingly created by Lois Jarvis. It is absolutely beautiful and extremely sad.
How can they keep getting away with this stuff
Media bias. You decide.
A teenager yawns, checks his watch, twisted his head, and seemed to be sleeping right behind President Bush during a speech in Orlando. It is all caught on tape and David Letterman takes the tape of the 45 minute speech and edits it down into a 45 second bit for his show. It was funny.
CNN picks up what Letterman did with the tape and broadcasts it the next day on one its shows and then tells its viewers that the White House complained and said that the footage had been edited and the kid was not on stage with the President.
This sets off Letterman and he accuses the White House of "An out-and-out, 100 percent lie." and he urges his listeners to vote for Kerry because "the White House was trying to make ME look like a DOPE". Then CNN realizes it made a mistake and that no one from the White House complained at all and calls Letterman to tell him. So Letterman whines ""Now I've called the White House liars, and you know what that means - they're going to start looking into my taxes!"
These people should slow down before they take their sneaky little punches at the President and get the facts right or they might wind up looking like total DOPES.
Did CNN apologize to the White House? Did Letterman apologize to the White House? You know the answers to those questions. CNN did apologize to Letterman. They get away with this stuff.
