Here in Arizona the voters recently approved Prop 200 which requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote and identification when voting in person. It also calls for state and local government employees to check the immigration status of those applying for non-federally mandated public benefits and establishes fines and other penalties for those who fail to do so. Every immigrant rights groups opposed this proposition and outspent groups favoring it 5 to 1. All of our elected officials opposed the proposition. But the voters passed it anyways because the voters see our schools, hospitals, and prisons filling up with illegals and know who is paying for all of it. So what? It doesn't matter. This is what we have judges for, to write their own laws. A judge will invalidate the proposition the minute it is certified so the judicial majority of one will win again.
