"Are you telling me that tens of millions of Americans are involved with al-Qaeda?"
--Senator Patrick Leahy (D., Vt.)
In reference to the NSA collecting and analyzing telephone call data (not conversations) in order to locate terrorism suspects.
Duh. Senator Leahy should worry about the 19 terrorists hiding amongst those tens of millions. It would be nice to locate those guys, wouldn't it, before they figured out how to take out the Senate Office Building. If it takes datamining of tens of millions of records to help do that, big deal. All my phone records are out there anyways if you know where to look and yours are too.
Senator Leahy was briefed about
this program some time ago and didn't say a word about then, but this is how Senator Leahy operates. Is slimey an appropriate word here?
